Wonderful stuff! Hopefully this will pave the way for wolves, elk, and bears in the future.

Yes, overgrazing by sheep and deer is abundant. And more forest is non-native pine. Needs more wildlife imo. Don't get me wrong it's better than the rest of the UK, but could be a lot better.

Zambia looks after it's landscape and it's wildlife, why don't you learn from them?

Don't do deals with those Nazis, selling out isn't looking after your people.

It's a fundamental issue that humans cannot replicate the effects of wolves and lynx. We need that landscape of fear implemented by a predator that is permanently present in the environment. To think humans can do the same job is arrogant.

Good stuff, now could you scrap your anti-nature stance on apex predator reintroduction? Scotland does better when nature thrives. Right now it's in a terrible state.

Horribly invasive here in Britain and I imagine causing issues in the states too. 40 million are introduced each year just for hunting sports. Acting as a massive vector for disease such as bird fly and consuming our native reptile en masse. Beautiful but this injustice can't continue.

If you truly cared about Scotland natural beauty you wouldn't allow it to be spoiled by letting sheep farmers run amok. And prevent native species being reintroduced. You're such a fake patriot.

Ive had this exact same daydream before

I'm confused by the statement "Scottish sycamore" as I was under the impression that all maples except field maple are non-native

Still ignoring the blighted state of nature in Scotland in favour of the failing sheep industry though. Not even small farms either, mainly wealthy landowners that use them as a piggy bank for subsidies. You honestly just don't care about the Scottish landscape.

Answer is apex predators, they regulate meso predators too
June 22, 2025 at 9:23 PM
Coyotes tend to stick to smaller prey species for the most part. Only predators present in the ecosystem all the time that use deer as a regular prey source will influence their feeding behaviour. Ultimately this can also regulate their numbers by lowering reproductive success.

Yet without the presence of apex predators like wolves and lynx in these areas, deer grazing exceeds the forests ability to regenerate. Only restoration of these keystone species will help fix this imbalance, as fences and stalkers do not work in the same way, and work against natural processes.
