New here and not sure what to use this app for. If it helps me meet new naturalist friends and learn new things, great.

Here is a pic of a wild Stewartia ovata aka mountain camellia, for attention. This plant exists in the wild only in a relatively small area of the southern Appalachians near me.
When the trout lillies are blooming in the southern Appalachians it feels as if the whole world is being made new. If only that were so.

I wish I could find some way to remove myself fully from that other platform. But I would miss stuff like this awesome news if I did. Shared as a screenshot. Still rooting for this thing over here to grow.

Winter is hard. I’m already looking forward to the late winter rains bringing out salamanders like this Spring Salamander and this Southern Gray-Cheeked Salamander which is found only in a tiny area of the southern Appalachians. (Both pictures are from last year.)
