Where?

I once watched a GB Heron lie down for a little while on senescing Canary Grass at the the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, Ridgefield Washington, not far from Vancouver, Washington. The bird seemed to be fine, just resting. Very unusual.

Hi, unfortunately your emojis don't show up correctly. It's a problem with Bluesky's programming. I have pointed it out to them but they don't care.

Here is an image of what I see.

I recently signed up at iNaturalist. My user name there is kris-kennedy. I'll follow you there.

Just so you know, some of your emojis don't show up correctly for me. Based on what I've seen some people say it's because I'm using Windows 7. Here's a screenshot to show you what I see:

The morel mushroom in my yard is getting bigger (over 3 inches tall now and thicker too) and looks somewhat different (see my first post about it below).

I opened your photo in Photoshop CS6 and went to Image, Adjustments, Shadows/Highlights. I set Shadows to 0 and Highlights to 45. I made no other adjustments.

To me the head looks better but your opinion may be different, and our monitors may not match well. It seems that a Raw file should be >

Today I found this tiny bee going around in circles on its side in a small puddle of rain water on the lid of a bucket in my yard in Clark County, Washington. Is it a Mason Bee?

I gently rescued it and put it on a little stick in sunlight to dry. I checked a bit later and it had flown away.

I found this gray morel mushroom in my yard today. It looks as though it is made of wax. It's about 2 inches tall.

Here is a leucistic American Robin at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, Ridgefield Washington.

A mole was pushing the dirt around under the robin. The robin was likely hoping that some worms would be exposed.

Male Yellow Headed Blackbird perched on the previous year's Cattail fluff making its very interesting sounds. Look for a recording on the internet if you've never heard one.

This is an aberrant Trillium with four petals, sepals, and bracts (leaves), in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Washington.

I named it Quadrillium. :)

This is a 'jumping' slug (genus Hemphillia). Jumping slugs can leap tall buildings in a single bound (just kidding). It didn't do any jumping while I befriended it for a couple of minutes in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Washington. Apparently it didn't feel threatened by me.

A bird that needs a new common name. As with the Virginia Opossum, the Virginia Rail isn't just from or in Virginia. They're lovely birds.
