They eat and live inside of rotting logs helping to decompose them. Multiple families can live inside a large log so basically I’m picturing each fallen tree in the forest actually a village of gentle beetle buddies. 🖤

They use over 15 different sounds to talk to each other and to their babies. If you scare them they make a distress call that sounds like kissy noises. 🥺

Not only are they passive and harmless to humans but they form monogamous pairs and coparent their young into adulthood. The older siblings even stick around to help care for the younger ones before going off to start their own families.
