A feral mother had 3 kittens and here’s the two who came to my home. The sibling and no-longer-feral Mom, are happy with my dear friend. Meet Syd Kahoots and Peg LaPew. Peg is named for the very First Lady Park Ranger, who rode her Harley from PA to Yellowstone, to become a Park Ranger, early 1900’s

This was last month at a Kp of a high 5, but too many clouds in Yellowstone that evening, and this was probably about as good as it got that evening

New rescued family members headed to my home - meet Peg LaPew and her brother, Syd Kahoots. Peg is named after the very first female National Park Ranger, who happened to ride her motorcycle to Yellowstone from PA and ended up having to make her own uniform- my kind of shero.

I’m surprised by a rescue orchid, blooming for the first time in several years. Must have done something right. Nice to have the splash of color on these winter days. And lucky to have a mountain out my window that glows with a winter sunrise.
What has made you smile this week?

bacterial mat’s in thermal basins are extremely fragile & dynamic ecosystems. Each color is a different species of wildlife, at a different temperature and ph. One of those animals is what led to the development of DNA testing. Pictured is Grand Prismatic Hot Spring, thousands of years old. Respect
