The expansion of the Hopeful Garden has begun. So far just Carolina Reapers and San Marzanos, but there will be sweet corn, a variety of flowers, zucchini, and other stuff added shortly

Absolutely in love with Empress of India, a variety of nasturtium growing for the first time this year. The red of the flower is so incredibly vibrant.

Extremely pumped to be digitally-attending the Ecological Gardening Summit out on by Joe Lamp’l and the Joe Gardener podcast tomorrow!

Been reading Oliver Milman’s The Insect Crisis which is really anxiety-inducing, but I’m wondering if there isn’t a less destructive way to check insect populations. Catching thousands in traps and checking weight seems like it can’t be helpful. Not criticizing, but generally curious.

Would love to get my hands on a soil-blocker. Definitely adds a bit of work, but if that’s the trade off for going zero plastic. Good video from GrowVeg

The garden is really coming alive. I noticed this guy for the first time this year, a Nomad bee. Really interesting reddish orange coloration, though it was hard to get a picture that showed it well. #naturegardening #organicgardening
