This is great but also it's an A24 film who also did an ad campaign for Civil War with a series of AI-gen posters. And they defended its use saying it aligns with the theme of the film :/ I'm glad they let the directors keep the credit here though.

Also famous illustrators in Japan are more widely recognised by the public compared to ones in the US, so they might sometimes be used like an influencer to create an alternative movie poster.

That being said, I think the movie market in Japan is more competitive (eg. less cinemas per capita, local movies dominating the box office) so marketing can get quite extensive. Also Hollywood/foreign movies only get released like half a year later here so more time. The Substance is not out yet 💀
