Found this chair (and it's partner!) on sale and I want them so badly. Is it my aesthetic? No. But we're they so comfortable that I could imagine taking naps and reading there? Absolutely. Friends! Comfort is key! Aesthetics be damned!

Sometimes you gather at work and read about how Trump wants to eliminate your agency after hurricane season. And you, a millennial, can think of very few ways to up your team's morale and so you make a paper fortune teller with affirmations in it and you bebop around the office engaging in whimsy.

Sometimes, you gotta touch grass.

When the world feels out of control, what do you do?

Pressure wash things, obviously.

I finished "The Road to Roswell" by Connie Willis last night and I'm so confused by the ending. It was so abrupt! So outta nowhere!

3 trees fell in my backyard last night but thankfully the winds were blowing south and so they just landed in the little valley of their tree brethren. Usually I save my storm prep for my home for right before hurricane season, but these springs in GA are reminding me that it needs to start earlier.

When you're preparing for a government shut down.

Do I know how to do my taxes? No. Do I know how to do algebra without looking up videos? Also no. Do I know every single word of this song and buss it down every time I hear it? ABSOLUTELY.

Buddy I made my first boule. It is actually edible. Is this how you feel every week?!?!? I am unstoppable.

Ton of stories here, but what stands out to me is the guy who voted for Trump every year & "doesn't regret any of it" & "agrees with the aim to reduce the size of govt". He notes that these reductions are cruel but blames Elon Musk for the cruelty.

I feel like there's a political psych study here.

I can do all things through 3 drinks that sustain me.

Because of *gestures vaguely around me* I have decided to spend the weekend doing stuff in my house including - but not limited to - finishing a pending painting project! Deep cleaning my floors! Purging children's books of battered tomes! Anything that stops me from thinking about the 20th!

Starting 2025 with a hot question - Did Ursula K. Le Guin even ✨like✨ women? Her portrayals of women in her novels that I've read have not been great so I think I'm going to do a deep dive and read some literary criticisms and see if my vibeometer is off or correctly calibrated.

In non-emergency OR kid related news, my December @feministbookclub.bsky.social pick came in the mail and I'm giggling like a little kid. I AM SO PUMPED!

#SpotifyWrapped is my favorite because I love seeing what everyone listens to so I can find new artists/songs to listen to.

Candied yams w/ streusel topping & marshmallows. Garlic & chive creamy mashed potatoes. Smoked Gouda Mac & cheese (sounds went crazy when mixing 😏) and the main event- my dry brined, spatchcocked turkey! Extremely thankful for community and the people make me better. 🍽️

Watch out Dickens, move aside Hemingway, have several seats Jemisin, look in awe Butler, my 10 yo just wrote the best opening lines for a story of all time.

And finally, I make it to outside of the Atlanta perimeter and still face a journey of 29 miles with 15% battery life left before I have to call an Uber. In total this trip is going to come out to $32 and used 3 methods of transportation. This is whack AF.

A girl, a card, a dream, a map. Armed with a Breeze card and minimal sense of direction I finally head towards the train that will take me towards home. But not to home because at every opportunity Cobb County voters have squashed the MARTA line extending through their county to Cherokee.
