The joke among euphonium, trombone, and tuba players back in the day when I still played was the same, substitute "low" for "high." ;-)

I guess he got "promoted?" If so, good for him. :) I wish Gus Johnson had stayed at BTN but the big lights were calling his name....

He does Big Ten Network game broadcasts all the time, or used to at any rate. I've seen him broadcast a number of Northwestern games.

Similar, but swap in euphonium for piano. My mouth would go bone dry. Not good. Switched to composition midway through college. I like sitting in the audience watching other people do all the work. :)

They lose them to our urgent care clinics here in the U.S. too, where many of the providers are from the countries you're describing. We get gaps filled at their expense. I don't know what the solution is other than to inject a lot of $ into those countries' medical delivery systems/raise salaries.

One of the issues here in the U.S. is simple supply and demand. The supply of medical students wanting to go into primary care/internal medicine has been dropping for a long time while the demand for the kind of medical care those physicans provide keeps increasing.

I was just thinking exactly this when I wanted to schedule an appointment with my primary care physician and his next available time was months in the future.

Very well played!

This has been tried over and over. Benjamin Spock's People's Party. Barry Commoner's Citizens Party. The Green Party. The Reform Party. They influence ideologies and push issues that eventually get adopted, but they don't win Federal elections. Ever. It's not the party, it's the officeholders.

They definitely last. The Prohibition Party is still around albeit on life support & is almost as old as the GOP. The Socialist Workers Party has been running candidates since the 1930s. The Socialist Labor Party was born in 1877 & stuck around for 130 years. They just don't win elections.

That would actually useful for music that isn't already notated, or for which the sheet music is either unavailable or nearly impossible to obtain. Otherwise it's reinventing the wheel. :) In any event, it's a long way off.

I'd be waiting for a loooooooong time. I'm not worried, at all. :)
November 10, 2025 at 4:48 PM
No, the absolute BEST part is that that statement was posted to a music notation forum. LMAO

I've used Suno and I actually generated a couple of very passable pop songs with it. On the other hand, let's just say that it's a loooooooooooooong way from replacing me as a symphony composer.
