The Nationals are working on a deal to name Blake Butera their next manager, source confirms. 33-year-old was Rays' senior director of player development after 4 seasons managing A-ball for them. Would be MLB's youngest manager since 1972. (ESPN's Jeff Passan was first to report.)

Lerner dodged a question about spending already. Toboni will certainly improve the overall product (not that that’s saying much), but it doesn’t matter. He will fail like everyone else in this organization because of putrid ownership. This franchise is fucked without proper ownership.
