She is vulnerable in a primary because she knows she has to maintain her reputation as a moderate to win the general. You can get away with moving right to win the primary in most states, but not in Maine. This is especially true in a non-Presidential year.

All his movies are great in the way of satisfying novels that you remember long after. Looking forward to this one (he says his last) coming in March.

And note that this question is specifically about the Measles vaccine. Support among Republican voters — especially those who identify as MAGA — for other vaccines is significantly lower.

…if we know one thing about Trump’s psyche, it’s that he loves nothing more than making a competitor bend the knee to him. So Trump will likely dangle the prospect of DeSantis as VP for at least a news cycle or two. By then, DeSantis may think it’s in his best interest to play along.
November 8, 2023 at 10:59 PM
…that’s good for his future prospects. Trump holding VP out as a carrot makes it less likely DeSantis goes after him (for whatever that’s worth). So there is potential strategic benefit on both sides. More importantly…

5. There are many who think Trump would never select DeSantis as his running mate. They might be right, but that possibility will be thrown around more often in the coming weeks. DeSantis looks better to the MAGA base if they think Trump is considering him for VP. DeSantis thinks…

4. If Haley is the consensus winner, all the momentum & money will shift to her. While it’s likely DeSantis intends to stay in the race through Iowa, that calculus could change as the image of him as the frontrunner who collapsed builds and begins to weigh on his future prospects.
November 8, 2023 at 10:56 PM
…will be in her element. Haley is a much better debater than DeSantis. If DeSantis pushes her too far, there’s a good chance Haley embarrasses him.
November 8, 2023 at 10:56 PM
3. DeSantis knows Haley is beating him and will focus all his attention on her. He will take this opportunity to roll out his (not at all misogynistic) Haley = Hillary line of attack. But foreign policy will be the main topic of the debate and so Haley…

2. It’s been obvious for a while that this is a 3-way race for 2nd place. It’s also obvious that–in the race for runner-up–Tim Scott is the odd-man out. If he doesn’t perform significantly better tonight than he did at the last two debates, he is done before well before we get to Iowa.
