I just received this cool piece of Greenlandic history. Rasmussen and Freuchen minted these coins in 1910 as a currency for their Thule Trading Station at Cape York #Arctic #Greenland

Had a wonderful time helping teach a 3-day Environmental Genomics and SeqCode workshop at Shandong University, followed by a weekend of hearing great talks at the Chinese Association of Microbial Ecology meeting in Qingdao, China.

Field work in my final week at Summit Station, #Greenland ended with an unsettling surprise yesterday. Unbeknownst to me, a #polarbear was approaching from directly downwind while I was sampling snow south of station. 1/3
