I guess the tension here is that that former and prospective voting coalition is sympathetic to the former, but the later are the economic priorities of their core voters and activist base so they’re caught trying to ride both horses?

I'm quite sceptical of using a PR system for Westminster elections, but IMAO local elections in England and Wales should all be done using STV (like Scotland and NI) given this fracturing and how skewed the headline results can be.
