I'm thinking about adding a line at the end of anything I write to ensure readers "These words were written by a human."

So, Fully Completely got a 9.4 from Pitchfork, eh? My 12-year-old self is wholly, entirely outraged that it didn't earn a perfect 10 for "Wheat Kings" alone.

Awoke with a David Lynch-sized hole in my heart, and it feels like watching A Straight Story is the only way to fill it.

Go ahead, judge this book by its cover.

(Pretty please do so. I’d rather you judge this book by its cover than judge me, the author of this book. See, I reveal some gnarly bits of my character here, so I wouldn’t mind if you got out all your judgement at the cover.)

Yeah, it’s printed on paper and bound by a (striking!) cover, but this isn’t a book as much as a conversation over coffee that’s challenging and clarifying and even comforting. It’s a sort of communion over the very concept of community.

On this day of gratitude, I’m giving thanks for the dedication to this lovely chapbook, Big Wilson, and offering even bigger ups to its author, Mark Sampson, for 22 years of loving, caring, and attentive friendship. Here’s to 22 more!
