That's such a buzzkill too. Games need a dynamic "Last time on..." load screen for story, in-game mentors who get you quickly refamilar with gameplay, and a simple option for complex stats min/maxing. Create 5-10hr chapter releases every Q so you can enjoy the front line with everyone again.

People seek escapism and in an increasingly stream of short media snippets to itch the scratch for escaping, playing long open-ended games with more options is too much effort for some. '80s arcades had the immediate satisfaction, today's games require you to schedule it.
