i guarantee that she doesn’t know who john woo is but she loves this film

Every moment in Project Hail Mary, by Andy Weir, is entertaining me.

I have literally laughed aloud, shed tears, and pumped my fist with enthusiasm.

It’s fantastically performed as an audiobook and I highly recommend it.

Every once in a while, I think about a thing I read as a young parent:

"One day, you'll set your child down for the last time, never to pick them up again."

It implanted a deep existential dread inside me & whenever I remember it, I go pick up one of my kids.

"Dad, I’m 15, stop.”

Not yet, buddy.

Pretty much every “movie news” website headline concerning digital or physical effects is most certainly misleading or plain wrong.

Smoked Cream Cheese, which is basically savory smoky cheesecake and is unbelievable on freshly baked bread.

The @hbomax.bsky.social app on PS5 makes me actively hate a service I love. Currently switching to watching Righteous Gemstones on my laptop so I don’t get frozen/disconnected every five minutes.

Disney, 1998:

"How should we end this movie that takes place in China and is about the exploits of the Chinese people?"

"A Stevie Wonder song?"

"For a movie about China?"

"What if it features 98 Degrees?"

"Oh, that's perfect. That fixes the issue completely."

Made some Switchel, because apparently it was hugely popular in the US for nearly 300 years before being generally forgotten.

Molasses, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, and ginger. Sort of kombucha-like. Honestly pretty great.

him: i doubt it

“I want a house with a crowded table”

“If we want a garden we’re gonna have to sow the seeds”

The Highwomen made a phenomenal album.

Has there ever been a bad movie that riffs on the Groundhog Day formula?

I can only think of great ones, notably Palm Springs and Edge of Tomorrow.
