Lost (hopefully temporarily) the ability to produce these xG timelines so will be sharing StatMan's for the time being.

Not a thrilling encounter. Game state effects pretty clear.

When we expand to all "attacking midfielders" we go up to 59, and we can compare to the rest of the league

Worryingly:

- Only 17% of these passes are forwards to him
- 60% are over 10 meters in length
- 10% are way off the floor

Kolo Muani, with his smooth back-to-goal play, comfortably leads the squad in finding our playmaker in dangerous areas, with techy former PSG academy teammate Odobert in second.

In-field passers Bentancur, Sarr and Udogie make up the top 5.

Game-by-game, I think they broadly pass the eye test as a measure of Spurs' quality on the ball.

Spurs are averaging just 3.1 of these passes to Xavi per90.

The good news is that they are trending upwards, but that's broadly in line with his own minutes ticking up.

Spurs have found Xavi in the hole 52 times so far this season between PL and CL fixtures.

13 (25%) of them have resulted in Spurs registering a shot. Which I think pretty clearly underlines both their value and his ability.

One way to track Tottenham's quality in possession this season is to count the number of passes that Xavi Simons - Spurs' playmaking no.10 - is receiving in what I'm going to call "The Danger Zone"

Should Spurs sack Frank?

Spurs fake their usual middle rush, but look to double back to far post (where the ball is headed)

Chelsea defend it well

The coaching team (inc. set piece coach Andreas Georgson) scream at the team to come over for instruction.

Vicario goes down with a mysterious (foot?) injury that requires medical attention (but then afterwards he's completely fine)

Spurs are setting up to do their standard far post to middle rush corner

Results have been decent under Frank, but underlying numbers would suggest that Spurs have gone from terrible at the end of last season to merely pretty bad after 10 league games.

Not ideal

Xavi Simons replaces the concussed Bergvall but, I think, no change in structure.

In possession and out of possession shapes here:

Please ignore the wrong keeper I can't be bothered to re-do 3 of them.

Wonder if we'll see more of the 3-2-4-1 possession shape today

Full Frankism as Spurs go over 2xG with really only four chances.
