A Vols fan who only engages with football by checking the score once the game's over.

They apparently had this last year, I don't think they have a lane to stay in (complimentary?).

I know that I could never get one of these because I'd be constantly fidgeting with the magnetic ball bearings, but they're very cool.

That's cool as hell. My wife had a Pontiac Vibe AWD for years and that car was so much better than it had any right to be.

The hood of a new Tahoe is even with the roofline of my stock Volvo C30. It's absurd.

That was Christmas Eve. Her farts were clearing the room the next day while we tried to open presents. We gave her some Pepto Bismal on the advice of our vet friend and she got through it, but man.

Our family dog when I was a kid once got out and found a Ziploc bag of ribs that someone must have left outside while waiting on some charcoal to light. We don't know how much was in the gallon bag to start with, but she didn't finish them. I don't know how much a dog has to eat before it stops.

Assuming it's still there: The opt-out option isn't in the "change subscription" menu like you'd think. You have to click "cancel subscription." It's like trying to fight a Comcast price increase.

I don't know if it's still available, but I managed to opt out of Copilot and not get a price increase when I got that same email earlier this year.

bsky.app/profile/nate...
Microsoft sent out an email about a price increase with my upcoming Office 365 subscription annual renewal that (a) downplayed the fact that the increase was due to Copilot AI and (b) made it sound like it wasn't optional.

But you can opt out of Copilot and the price stays the same as it's been.

Oh, it's named in the preliminary NTSB report. I'm behind the times.

Reminds me of American Airlines 191. It was a DC-10 that had an engine separate at the pylon on takeoff back in 1979.

There's a beta joke in here somewhere

That's weird. Does it plug into an outlet or is it permanently wired? If the former, are there two outlets down there?
November 18, 2025 at 11:50 PM
Hang on, I didn't say I wouldn't use it.

On loan from the evidence locker, presumably
November 18, 2025 at 12:56 AM
Hardly the biggest problem here, but I see a neutral conductor and no ground. The 240V outlet should have a ground but no neutral. I guess it's possible that it's wired that way and the white wire is just being used for ground?

I've decided I don't like this.
November 18, 2025 at 12:53 AM
For when you need to use a dryer and there's no 240 outlet but there are two 120 outlets on opposite "phases" right next to each other?

You mean the fact that the k prefix is the only one (don't come at me with deca or hecto, those aren't real) that doesn't follow the convention of upper case prefixes for positive exponents? Because I've always hated that.

My favorite (least favorite) unit I've ever had to use is MMBtu/kWh, which is one million Btu per kilowatt-hour, and is a way of expressing the "heat rate" (inverse of efficiency) of a power plant. It's secretly not even a unit at all, it's just a number.

Fold the end all fancy like some hotels do, so it looks nice.

Ah, of course. I was looking for an antique bronze finish to hold my wheel-of-parmesan-sized tp roll though.
