I’m biased to say this isn’t so because I grew up homeschooled, and had a very large social circle of mostly other homeschool kids. By definition it would make sense that I wouldn’t encounter kids whose parents were trying to shelter them. Got any stats?

Being homeschooled does not necessitate living in a sheltered convent. Your argument is really against people who choose to homeschool with the explicit goal of preventing their children from being exposed to society. Which is largely not why people chose to homeschool when I was a kid
