I do wish to return to those halcyon days of the first third or so of Rebirth where I was like "dang this game rules" and kept that sentiment closer to my heart and not let it get so overridden by my mostly negative feelings on the last third.

I'm very excited for Horizon but of the two I think Daybreak 1 is probably worth going back to first (not that I think you were implying you'd go straight to Horizon first). Daybreak 2 I kind of like but you can probably just skip and read the summary in-game for Horizon.

Mass Effect 3's was exacerbated a lot by expectations from years of build up and perceived promise from the other two games in the trilogy on what would and wouldn't pay off. I also think in general people just weren't super invested in Hades 2' story by the end, I know I wasn't.

I really like The Return when I watched it as it was airing and then after I rewatched it recently I was left with the feeling of "why aren't all shows not just Twin Peaks The Return".

One of the few Joe Buck lines that will stay with me forever is "We'll see you later tonight!" after Ortiz's walkoff in extra innings from the 2004 ALCS which of course led to an even longer extra innings game the next game.

Loved it. But also hated it.
It's definitely one of the hardest things to be done in the game and one maybe worth breaking some "hey let's look some stuff up" glass. I know this is where I learned where the needle upgrade merchant was because I spent like 90 minutes on this fight with a base needle.

I missed the needle vendor entirely until basically the endgame somehow so I went way too long (and definitely for this boss) with a level 1 needle 😩

The easier pogo-ing is what a lot of people bring up with the reaper crest, but the real thing I would miss so much is the uppercut slash you do when you attack when you dash. It feels SO GOOD when you land that hit on fools.

The hardest boss for me so far, definitely spent the longest time on them, but man I felt like I was Neo by the time I finally broke through.

It took me an embarrassing long time to realize you get a special attack animation if you slash while running and now I just try to run at every enemy regardless of the consequences because it feels so sick.

You're not wrong but I did rather like Ys X, I think it's mostly just that IX is *such* a VIII retread that you are constantly reminded of a better game that is almost the same thing in construction.
