oh yeah, Marley Marl's beat for "Nobody Beats the Biz" is one of the epochal examples, too -- I think it might've even been the first, and it made the most of all the best hooks from it

I immediately thought of "Fly Like an Eagle" as a much-loved break/sample and yeah, I have your back against the mockers

I saw that movie a few months ago and that’s the most understandable reaction to it, it actually felt like that kind of dream as I watched it

(among other things it's one of their most disarmingly "optimistic" albums in that it emphasizes the positive aims for their dooming -- wanting a better world and all that)

I love Vol. 4 but I'm gonna be the centrist between those two albums and claim 'Master of Reality' as their best

my One 'Sea Change' Pick is "Paper Tiger," if only because it's nice to hear a 'Melodie Nelson' homage that isn't extremely lyrically problematic

'Obscured by Clouds' was *technically* their pre-DSotM album (with an asterisk for it being soundtrack work) but it also works because it's a fantastic example of them getting their new sound down

interesting example with the latter, because when I was getting into Talking Heads via the tried and true method of picking up what I found in late '90s used LP bins first 'Fear of Music' sounded like the masterpiece
THEN I heard 'Remain in Light' and went "whoa"

I guess by The Album I'm thinking the one that really established them as a significant presence and solidified their mainstream appeal*, not necessarily their biggest record, so we might have slightly different definitions here
*I think ILM established the inverse, too, cf. Bon Jovi's 'New Jersey'

fair, tho I definitely remember WBC getting huge, huge buzz, to the extent that there was a ca. 2002 Daily Show segment about it where two cast members in full Entertainment Tonight normie-shill mode tried and failed to vibe with "Aluminum"
