All the things this week - Nightwing Comics, Billy Collins’ Dog Show Poems, repeating Andrew Bird records, and season 2 of Man on the Inside. Loved it all.

Tragic. Beautiful. Powerful. Romantic. Thank you to the Leftovers for that incredible ride.

The scene in Pokerface where Charlie wakes up and cracks her neck and immediately injures herself hits way too close to home.

I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews, but I’m high on The Bear season four. Had the right mix of chaos and heart, plus the right notes with the rest of the Bears.

Really enjoyed the first season of The Rehearsal. The amount of detail and resources poured into trying to create an authentic experience is incredible. Excited to jump into season two.

Mo was incredibly thoughtful, devastating, funny, and beautifully written and performed. Just a completely wonderful show.

Teaching in 2025: My students throw away 9 months of my direct instruction to take the word of one influencer on TikTok and people on Reddit on how to best get a 5 on their AP exam.

Re-reading "Sonny's Blues" to conclude our AP Literature class on Thursday and I'm instantly transported and transfixed by the beauty in Baldwin's words. Superbly beautiful story and the perfect one to end class on.

That scene in the courtroom with the judge on Mo was so beautiful and tragic. Brilliant and beautiful show.

Tombstone is still such an underrated film. Doc Holliday was always one of my favorites to read about growing up and Kilmer portrayed him wonderfully in this film. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfgQ...

I’ve always loved film and tv about Hollywood. The Studio, especially episode 2, “The Oner” is hitting all the right notes.

This season of Harley Quinn has been excellent. Definitely a big bump up from season four.

It's remarkable to me that I lived in Chicago for a year, saw tons of movies with my housemates, including two special screenings at the Music Box Theatre, but never came across Filmspotting. 2012 & 2013 were great years for film too.

Trying to keep your anxiety under control inside a mechanism that perpetuates one of your greatest anxieties is anxiety inducing to think about.

Still have two class sessions left over the final two books, but I’ve finished reading The Brothers Karamazov for the second time. I’ve developed and even greater appreciation for this beautiful, epic story.

Better Things has provided so many great music moments - the one with Humbug Mountain Song by Fruit Bats when they’re in London might have just topped them all.

I’ve always found Coalinga by Band of Horses to be deeply profound.

This Brothers Karamazov class with Brian Zahnd has been such a rewarding and beautiful experience thus far. Deeply enriching theological and narrative discussion. It's even better when Jayber Crow & Wendell Berry get connected too. Berry & Dostoyevsky - two deeply brilliant & influential writers.

Every injury is different even if the diagnosis is the same. Every recovery is different even if the prescription is the same. But I can’t help but always compare the two and why they aren’t ever in sync. Sometimes he feelings range from unfair to simply cruel. I’m all the way there right now.

Ohio State won the inaugural four team playoff in 2015 and now the Buckeyes win the inaugural 12-team playoff in 2025. I started grad school at Baylor in 2015, I’m starting grad school again at Gonzaga in 2025. It all comes full circle. #Buckeyes
