Is rent control locked at 1% growth a good idea? It helps those who are already there at the expense of those who would like to be. I have sympathy for someone who can no longer afford a home they own out right because of taxes, but I suspect those are the exception compared to most.

My opinions are politically unpopular generally, but honestly the program sounds fine if the income limits were appropriate and everyone who was eligible had access.

Like why is the state giving me a tax break as an upper middle class homeowner. Like I won’t not take advantage of it but there are a lot more needy people out there.

I feel like a good counter argument is also we can do some type of low income program for seniors. Like we don’t have to do prop 13 for everyone if the concern is low income seniors loosing their home.
