Lavine has been the best SG in the nba this season. Balking at him merely because he’s not Kevin Durant is kinda pathetic man.

You’d have rejected Iguodala and bogut a decade ago too because they weren’t LeBron with that attitude

KD level? If that is your standard then you’re going to be stagnant forever. The KD move was once in a lifetime. Come back to reality.

Second apron consequences are taxes (again who cares they’re filthy rich) and one frozen pick seven years away. Who cares? Stephs time matters more

Warriors are the wealthiest team in the sport. That cannot be the barrier.

Santos looks more pro ready now than Kuminga has in 4 years. The effort level, the perimeter shooting, seeing the ply develop and moving into it so much better

Kuminga is a great athlete and that is it. That’s not a winning player

Lavine has maybe had the best individual season of any SG in the nba this season

Single game +/- really cannot be your measure of trade value. He’s likely worth more than one first and definitely a good prospect

Last point :

31-31 record Mavs made the 2024 Finals after trading for Gafford and PJ Washington.

25-30 record Lakers made 2023 WCF after trading for Vanderbilt, DLo and Rui.

Ws are 19-18 now. There complacency is a real problem stemming from bad talent evaluation and asset management

And every single year there is the ‘can’t do anything worth it now and risk the summer’ then do nothing in summer. I mean are we in Groundhog Day? What other good organization works like this?
January 10, 2025 at 7:12 PM
But the warriors stood Pat because they were ‘protective of their future’

What does that mean? Do they think a Kuminga and podz led franchise is a competitor more than a current Steph led team that has moved its assets for present day talent?
January 10, 2025 at 6:59 PM
For example, Joe said two timelines was “the only path” a few years ago. It clearly wasn’t. Many players have been moved since that quote around the nba for less valuable assets than what the warriors held onto. Those deals, both in hindsight and at their present, were favorable.

We recently got a national article from espn and an sf gate article that crystallized some of these issues. And it felt like a long time coming!

I know you speak with Joe often so you’re not just going to go off on him. But harder questions about their process I think are appropriate
January 10, 2025 at 6:57 PM
And if anything, fans want to see local media actually call these things out with more clarity. Like who in the building is deciding that Jimmy isn’t worth Wiggins and Kuminga now? Is that person aware that they may lose one of them this summer regardless?
January 10, 2025 at 6:55 PM
Sorry to spam, but the issue is long and years have added up to it. Salary dumping Poole, missed draft picks, holding onto picks too long when they had real windows to move them for real value, pissing off Klay, prehistoric roster builds in terms of skill sets. It’s all very poor management
January 10, 2025 at 6:54 PM
And even if they are worried about how much time is left with Steph, he’s earned the benefit of the doubt first. And second, they’re going to rebuild no matter how much they plan for later when he’s gone. It’s a waste of time to plan for after him now.
January 10, 2025 at 6:53 PM
And Steph is still very good. Their ORTG when he’s on the floor is 6th in the nba and below the wizards without. It’s clear Steph is still that good. But they’ve repeatedly chosen to be protective of what at this point is an imaginary future, with little real promise, over the real thing in Steph
January 10, 2025 at 6:51 PM
And I think people want to see a real direction taken. Languishing in the middle, not swinging to improve and not rebuilding, is NBA incompetence. Gotta pick a lane eventually & the org is too scared to do it it feels. Coupled w/what has been poor talent evaluation and they don’t inspire confidence

Wiggins and Kuminga awful
December 26, 2024 at 6:18 AM
People are angry at the state of things. Lose an election and still pick the same tired losers for these jobs.

It feels like Dems would rather play victim than win.
