@omicscode.bsky.social That sounds great! I'm in. What platform do you prefer I reach out on? Your DMs on Bluesky are turned off.

That's why I'm so interested in Burn, I'd love to do exploratory ML work in Rust as well. I'd be willing to work on an open source project of yours if you're up for some mentoring. I'm trying to educate myself on ML right now and that would probably be the most straightforward way to do it.

I think the problem I have with just on the job training (although it is really great) is that it's limited in scope to just things that can be applied immediately. Like how would I be able to learn about cylindric algebra for and its applications in GPU computing "on the job" for example?

I also prefer rust over other languages, but have to use Python and Go quite a bit still

Do you have any opinions on the Burn framework? Looks promising

I like to call this style of writing "Catholic deacon ran out of ideas for the sermon so just decided to reword the same thing 40 times."

Hey wanna trade? I'm a Rust engineer who wants to learn about digital music tools for gamedev background tracks

Ah ok that makes sense. Will keep an eye out for similar jobs that don't have that requirement.

Saw a job post on LinkedIn that sounds like it may be in your area of expertise. I don't really know much about the company but they want someone to move a C++ project to rust.

Yeah from the APL wiki:

"In a few APLs, most prominently A+, a mechanism is provided to pass functions as arguments, making functions first class if a special function call syntax is used."

Okay it sounds like what you want is to be able to write functions that can explicitly take other functions as arguments to effectively create custom higher order functions/operators? I know BQN can do that but don't know enough about APL to answer that off the top of my head.

Sorry just to confirm, you're saying that APL doesn't have higher order functions? Because their operators and combinators are functions that take other functions as arguments.
