As part of a worldwide network of wetlands, Victoria has a responsibility to protect migratory birds from duck shooting. The Victorian Government is failing our waterbirds.

The proximity to the suburbs is insane! 🤯
Labor approved this.

It’s ANZAC day. A day of remembrance for those who served at war. A day that should hold peace.

Instead of putting down their guns to honour the ANZACs, Geelong duck shooters turned up in a plague, playing pretend war in cammo, shooting wildlife.

They really are their own breed of disrespectful.

We need an urgent investigation into DEECA, and a new premier who doesn’t support wildlife cruelty!

Bird nerding is the new cool! Yet Vic Labor pumps millions into the shooting fraternity and ignores the opportunities for eco-tourism 🦆

Duck rescuers are seeing vastly reduced numbers of birds a week into the season.
With wetlands dry across Vic, the few lakes with water, SHOULD be a safe haven. Instead, they provided duck shooters the opp. to ‘shoot fish in a barrel’ leaving duck populations decimated.

And they call it a ‘sport’!

So many lakes have little to no water right now. This leaves the few full wetlands, full of birds trying to survive.

What is Labor/Jacinta getting from the shooters in order to have a full duck season? 🤔

Water birds need refuge from the dry conditions, not to be disturbed by duck shooter pests. 🦆

Rest In Peace Tilly
On day 1, at Lake Colac, rescuers witnessed a duck shooter wound a teal, then continue shooting without retrieving.
Tilly had a broken wing with 3 punctures & 3 abdominal punctures.
This is the reality of duck shooting in Victoria.
Tilly’s blood is on your hands, Jacinta Allan!

Waterbird numbers are in decline, Avian flu is imminent, and the Parliamentary inquiry recommended a BAN on duck shooting. Yet Labor has called a full season and more then doubled the number of birds that can be shot each day. Jacinta Allan is a disgrace!

Isn’t it interesting that studies of baiting show alarming and indiscriminate killing of wildlife and non target species, but the article contributed to by someone who receives funding from the ‘federal department of kill things so we don’t have to deal with them’ says the opposite? 🤔
Poison baits were used on 1,400 feral cats, foxes and dingoes. We studied their fate to see what works
Feral cats, foxes and dingoes are routinely baited to protect wildlife and livestock. But does it matter what kind of bait is used? Do cats ignore it?

Australia was so close to getting an independent regulator to halt projects and employ tougher penalties for environmental law breaches. Until Albo succumbed to pressure from the WA mining industry.

This fed. election the Koala Alliance will be calling for an independent regulator.

Will you?

A population decline of almost 50% of waterbirds in a year should be a major red flag! 🚩 Not an excuse to kill those who are left for fun, cos according to Labor, shooting ducks doesn’t affect population numbers 🤦🏻‍♀️😡#banduckshooting
Australia's waterbird populations almost halved in just one year, survey finds

With the risk of H5N1 bird flu imminent, and Australia’s woefully inadequate plans for dealing with its inevitable arrival, holding a 2025 recreational duck shooting season in SA is criminally irresponsible!
“Irresponsible” to allow duck hunting season in current context
RSPCA South Australia is extremely concerned by the State Government’s decision to allow another duck hunting season at a time when targeted birds migrating from the northern hemisphere threaten to bring with them the highly infectious H5N1 strain of bird flu.
