I also need at least one person to do bird ID from audio at the same site. Again, work is paid and flexible, fill in the form in the quoted skeet if you want to get paid to ID US birbs from their calls.

I’m helping updating my bird banding group’s Facebook page with the daily reports and I was told I can make educational posts. I am drunk with power.

I’m starting to do an embroidered series on threatened and endangered species in Illinois (since that’s my job). I’ve started with Strawberry Bush (Euonymus americanus) and I’ve reached the point I’ve been avoiding: the spikes on the fruit.

I got to spend just under two hours at the station. Handled two birds (catbird and goldfinch), then went to work. Trying not to let the fact they got a black and white warbler after I left haunt me. 🫠
Bird banding started this week at the local station but I won’t be able to get out until Friday. Life is unfair. I just want to get up at 5:30, touch birds for a couple hours, then do a full day of work. Is that too much to ask?

The company that hosts our database has, for a second time, sent out a mass email asking if their users had a will and wouldn’t it be great if we left a charitable donation to them when we died. I just need to track critters, not contemplate my own mortality.

Arc is trying to kill me. First it keeps trying to close out or reset the fields when I make a new feature layer. Now it decided it doesn’t understand greater than or equal to. I have 38 maps left.

Me: *In a cemetery with famous historic graves, taking a photo*

Random old man clearly there looking at the historic graves: Is that someone famous?

Me: Well, you could say that…

Even though most of my job is computer based, today I was able to participate in a big mussel survey. My first time in the Mississippi River and my first time seeing two of Illinois’ listed mussels. Worth the 6 total hours of driving.
