We also met Dylan Kelly McDonagh, Eco-Sustainability Lead at iSupply. Their pull-up banner prototype with Ulster University uses linen and Living Ink Technologies dye made of an algal waste residue from nutritional supplement production. This can reduce traditional petroleum-based black inks. 🧵3/3

NCI Steering Committee members, Dr Noeleen Smyth & Owen Murphy, were recognised for an article on invasive plants in garden centres & mink eradication in the Breeding Waders EIP, respectively. Emer Ní Dhúill also mentioned natural capital in her talk on CSR's role in invasive species responses 🧵3/3

Unfortunately, inadequate budgets hinder invasive species management at scale. Environmental damage is also not yet accounted for on balance sheets. Tuesday's breakout groups discussed how monetarily valuing the economic impacts of invasive species could assist policymakers' decision-making. 🧵2/3

With the UN announcing 2026 as the International Year of the Women Farmer, we hope that future CSO Farm Structure Surveys will see increases from 2023, which saw women account for 13.2% of the 133,174 farm holders in Ireland and 34% of the 299,725 total farm workers.
