“Some of my students openly talk about using AI for all their assignments and I agree with those who say the technology—along with gaps in their education due to the long term effects of COVID—has gotten us to a point where a lot of young GenZ and Gen Alpha are functionally illiterate.” *Illiterate*

Kobo. You’re not tied into a single seller (Amazon) and can borrow library books straight to the reader if your library has Libby.

Hi Matt. I think this is spreading outside the US. I’ve stopped buying from Amazon despite having a library of 450+ books with them and I am moving over to Kobo / ePubs. For me, this is a longer term thing, not a temporary boycott. I hadn’t thought about the impact but ‘going wide’ might be sensible

For those of us outside the US: are there reliable / objective news channels that are covering what is happening? (Not a leading question; we’re getting some coverage but unlikely to be the full picture).

My TBR is monstrous and runs into the 100s across ebooks and physical books. I think I once worked out it would take me 15 years to clear (and it’s grown since then) 🙈

Nowadays: an additional public holiday every year on 26 December. Christmas stretched over 2 days rather than one.

I’m getting slightly-underage clubbing flashbacks. Great tunes.
