I saw a lunchtime traffic jam at the bike rack at Bodos 🥯, proof that biking is possible & popular!
And Sunday was the monthly neighborhood walk with fun facts from by the Historic Resources Committee. This month, we checked out the JPA neighborhood and Oct 12 will be walking around 10th & Page!🚶‍♀️

What an incredible weekend to be outdoors in Charlottesville! Every Saturday morning there’s a casual bike ride that starts at the City Market (wear a silly shirt), and this time Mayor Juandiego Wade joined on a ebike! 🚲

Look at how many bikes can fit in one car parking spot.

P.S. Join Bike Cville every Saturday morning at 9 am for a casual ride around the city (we also often stop for a snack/coffee break). Meet at the City Market downtown! 🚲

Due to the holiday, instead of a typical Cville Bike & Pedestrian Advisory meeting yesterday, we went out on bikes and on foot to tour some of the city’s Quick Build projects that are improving our local traffic safety and bike/pedestrian infrastructure.

It’s been a weird week in the news.
But a highlight has been a friend purchasing this, her first ebike, at this unbelievable discount. She bundled the purchase with another friend so they could take advantage of the Ebike Lending Library’s discount! 🚲

I’m so glad you joined!! E-bikes are the best, and radically change how easy it is to get around hilly Cville without a car. We are working on building more bike infrastructure so it people don’t have to be brave to ride, just normal. (Obvi I want more sooner, but the city team IS making an impact)

Accidentally doing my best Chris Long to remind people to wear hats, cool clothing, drink water, stay inside & check on your neighbors for the first heat wave of the season. Cooling centers are open at the library, Key Rec & Tonsler Park for those in need. ☀️

The Lambeth Bridge and shared-use path are so safe and smooth! These pics are from a recent Saturday ride we took, leaving from the City Market

Welcome in advance! There’s lots of work to do before the second pic, but progress doesn’t happen unless you start, and we’ve definitely started. When you get to town, check out the monthly neighborhood walk series from the Bike/Ped Committee to get you started meeting folks and getting around!

In the past few months, Charlottesville City had launched an e-bike subsidy program and three different local leaders have excitedly told me they’ve purchased their first e-bikes. On Feb 3, our bike/ped team presented Council with what’s in the works the next couple of years 🙌🚲
