While English is only my third language (and therefore I might not express myself as eloquently as I'd like) I grew up speaking French and Italian as mother tongues and I hold a degree in language sciences :)

Hi there, i was referring to the prononciation, not the etymology. I am aware it comes from latin, just trying to figure out how the word might migrate with different pronunciations to English from both Italian and French.

As a French person I am triggered by how some English speakers (especially Americans) pronounce lingeray or chandeleer 😅 but to be fair we have our share of mispronounced English words too

It's not that wrong, it' more how the French pronounce it vs "echetera", that would be the Italian original prononciation
