And those are all my thoughts for Love in a Bottle! Big shout outs to all the other teams that worked on this, you guys really slayed it. SUCH a pretty sequence! Stay tuned for some thoughts on Losing Streak comin' up 👀

Lastly, for these closing shots, I tried to be super specific and intentional with Husk's drunk acting. One, because it's fun and funny lol, but two because I wanted to communicate that he's passed the threshold, and it's now a PROBLEM. He's become sorta far gone.

The huskettes! They're fun hahah. I treated them kinda like groupies/a metaphor for his addiction. They're happy and around him when he's winning, but the second he starts losing and becoming a bummer, they bail, leaving him alone. Very fairweather friends.

I also just as a side thing, wanted to show Husk being flirty and really feeling himself haha. Cause I think that kind of attitude goes pretty hand in hand with the vices he has.

When the song slows down again a bit, I really wanted to do two things. 1. Callback to Loser Baby visually, and 2. Show a sort of metaphorical vignette of Husk going way too hard lol. The design folks did SUCH a great job communicating that! And the images of Husk are so fun haha.

The song starts pretty slow and melancholic, so I wanted to start it in a place where Husk is lamenting, but once he follows the booze (literally) and starts giving in to his vices, the song kicks up, the cuts get faster, and he's moving in a more upbeat way.

The biggest direction I was given for this song was that Husk needs to be gambling and drinking and having a good time, seen winning, and then over the course of the song eventually start losing and getting TOO drunk. So I tried to make it sort of a vignette of wins and losses happening throughout.

And lastly, honestly, I just love this shot haha. I think it's my favorite one in the song and I have SO much love for all of the other departments for NAILING the look I was going for here. Sparkly, soft, ethereal. It's great stuff!!

Since the song is a bit slower and the shots are generally a bit simpler, I tried to put more emphasis on the acting and was really intentional with it in the boards. I really wanted to be able to communicate Angel's movements to the animators in a really clear way.

Seeing Husk react to Angel was so important to me lol. I love these boys. I pulled a lot from Eddie Valiant in terms of how Husk reacts. Just kind of stunned and flabberghasted lol. Also Angel's chest coming direct into camera from that shot of Husk staring was very intentional framing hahah

Something I really liked about this song was that it was a lot slower and more sensual. I felt good being able to hang on shots for longer and really let Angel mug to the camera.

Something I wanted to accomplish was to have Angel travel fully around the room. From the piano, to the stage, onto both sides of the floor, & then back up to the stage. What was great about this sequence was that I had a blender background to work with!! It made figuring this all out a lot easier.

The main direction I was given for this, of course, was to take inspiration from Jessica Rabbit's intro song sequence from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Also I was told Angel needs to be mean to the patrons hahah. BUT, he's nice to the piano player, because you always gotta be nice to the piano player.
