la is so complex in toki pona… it’s a bit overwhelming to understand all the ways people use it

does everyone actually make up nimisins and use them in conversations. i thought it was mostly just joking around

how would you convey the notion of “replacing” something in a clear way. like if i have pepperoni on my pizza and i replace it with bacon. or something

what would you call a ruler of something. like a king. or a god. or a landlord. or the company that controls all the water pipes around you

i am REALLY bad at handwriting pali. i keep varying the ijo size
January 13, 2025 at 3:19 PM
trying to think about a head nimi i like most

since my whole thing is deer i was thinking of like. soweli palisa. its a bit unwieldy. im thinking maybe i just want to drop the nimi thing and be "soweli pi palisa pakala" -> broken (antler) animal

then again that could get unwieldy too

extension to nasin sitelen kalama (nasin sitelen kalama mute??) which specifies how far into the word you want the syllables to start.

[ ko : soweli -.. ] -> koweli

[ kijetesantakulu ---.. ] -> santa

this is evil

i think im probably going to eventually change my toki pona name like two to three more times before i am satisfied with it
January 10, 2025 at 9:56 PM
the pu glyph could be confused with a combined lipu+tokipona glyph. maybe
January 10, 2025 at 8:33 PM

writing todo lists in toki pona is very interesting. having to contextualise my very english-y thoughts in toki pona is doing a lot for my language skills
January 8, 2025 at 12:41 AM
i think namako has an interesting semantic space

how would you say "drink this water from a bottle (or drink this bottled water)!"

i cant choose between...
o moku e poki telo (consume the water-container? lol)
o moku e telo insa poki

(is the second one grammatically correct even? i get really confused with positional qualifiers)

it really sucks how hard it is to use sitelen pona online. like a month ago i had zero fluency with sitelen pona because its barely used outside of like. promotional images. actually handwriting sitelen pona has helped me a lot in understanding the core language

as soon as a direct translation fails, toki pona translator programs become basically useless. note how here I framed an ideal conversation as an exchange. the AI didn't pick up on that, because it's creative (this is good for toki pona).

don't use AI to learn toki pona. it will stifle creativity.
