even better if narumi eyes flutter open and he gets extremely flustered seeing hoshina staring intensely

even when narumi shoves a switch into hoshina's hands so they can play animal crossing together it ends up as a mini fishing/diving competition or they're being silly and wacking each other with their nets and axes (narumi made an arena and everything)

this is such a bad habit you two... what are you going to do if the chicks you're looking after start copying you? (tbh i can imagine kikoru has tried it at least once after seeing narumi do it)

it is nrhs (which is also good) but this one artist's brain... they get it

there are other things that could've (and should've haha) been written but i decided i wanted to write something that makes me sad instead 😞

narumi who inherited that will to become strong and hoshina who, because he couldn't say those words, couldn't bind them together as 'partners' and at the same time refusing to become someone narumi has to protect (aka a direct subordinate of narumi) by rejecting the invite to 1st division... yeah

'i'll be strong even in my next life. so lets fight side by side instead, okay?' those were the words he couldn't get to say before everything went dark

such a thing being said would have a!hoshina chuckle even in his dying breath. "stronger than even me? i don't want that..." he musters his strength to lift his hand and wipe a!narumi's tears. "i won't... be someone you must protect."

"if i'd just been faster, if i'd been stronger, this wouldn't have happened...!" a!narumi will say, tears seeming to fall as endlessly as the blood pooling from their wounds. "hey, soushirou, in our next life i promise i'll be stronger, okay? i'll be strong enough to protect you and everyone else"
