Using up his entire stamina wheel to climb up this mountain...

Lol, they just removed it a couple seconds ago. Suddenly the entire thread was gone after a refresh.

Goddamn, are they handsome. And I forget sometimes what a big boy Grayson is. Looking forward to the finished ref sheet.

Goddamn, lovely back. Are those bite marks on his hands?

Uff, I adore the expression in the upper image, so expressive with just one eye, even with most of their face covered.

I'm not saying the average person bathed every day. Probably more like once a week. All dependent on how available water was. Maybe a daily wash with a wet rag.
The point is not that they bathed as much as us with our indoor plumbing. Just that they didn't want to be dirtier than they had to be.
February 17, 2025 at 12:47 AM
And in winter the bathed less, obviously. When it was really cold, they just washed themselves at home with wash clothes.
February 16, 2025 at 1:31 AM
And unless it is freezing outside, being wet outside is not going to kill you. What modern medicine do you think in necessary for a quick dip in the river throughout most of the year in the temperate european climate?
February 16, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Yes it was common. Plenty of medieval paintings depicting it. Bathhouses were also not segregated by sex and people were naked. The "don't show your ankles" stuff is post-rennaissance, and lower classes never cared as much about that stuff.

Germ theorie was not the difference between people washing their hands or not.
It was the difference between washing your hands with sope as a surgeon and disinfecting your hands with bleach because you know knew that germs were a thing and that soap was not allways sufficiant enough.
February 15, 2025 at 2:04 AM
Just as a side note. Germ theory is not really relevant here. You don't need germ theory to dislike smelly things or to see that dirt leads to infections. Cleaning wounds and washing hands was common long before germ theory.
Germ theory just brought us things like disinfectants.

Yes, and the earth is flat and vaccines cause autims. Any other great pearls of wisdom to share?
February 15, 2025 at 1:53 AM
Nope, that was only really a thing after the middle ages (post-renaissance even), when cities grew so much faster than the waste infrastructure could keep up with. And even then it was never the normal way of disposing waste.
February 15, 2025 at 1:52 AM
Certain clergy members were mad because bathhouses sometimes doubled as brothels (and women and men bathed totheter while naked). So you have examples of some glergy members complaining about them every once in a while.
February 15, 2025 at 1:49 AM
You do undestand that almost every settlment back then was built near a body of water, right? People just washed in rivers and lakes (or washed themselves with water buckets and wet rags during the winter, when it was too cold for bathing in bodies of water). Hot water is not required for washing.

Dope, I know what I'm doing with my evening.

@rukis.bsky.social Alright, thanks for the answers, looking forward to it.

Any idea when brothers in arms will be available as ebooks?
January 19, 2025 at 9:32 PM
@rukis.bsky.social I'm also supporting you on Patreon, so I guess if you upload .rtf files of Windrose at the same time or earlier there, the question becomes moot and I'll just read it on Patreon.
November 16, 2024 at 9:15 PM
Quick question. I don't want any physical rewards or books or anything, but I would love to get ebooks or .rtf files. I pledged $210 on the Landsmen tier, but I don't think I can add any add-ons there, unless I just don't understand how kickstarter works. What's the best way to get ebooks?
November 16, 2024 at 9:13 PM
I'm curious if that means that we will see the events of BWAW and Azimuth from Luthers pespective in Windrose. Or if those are still not canon and their relationship will start out differently in canon.

Very exciting, whatever form it will take.

Yeah, it's always funny when I see how much people have to censor themselves on Twitter, considering how much Elon blabs about free speech.
