I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary. It’ll happen to you!
The best thing about having my own internet domain is seeing all the email coming from "admin@<mydomain>.com" telling me that my account is being suspended.

Fun bit of serendipity just now. Hung up with the doctor and complained to my wife, "Stupid American healthcare system." The phone resumed playing the #GodAwfulMovies podcast and I heard, "Dumb. Everything is So. Fucking. DUMB!" You said it, Noah. Couldn't agree more.

It's a good old fashioned U.P. blizzard out there right now. When I took the dogs out they were as happy as (pre-internet) kids on a snow day. We didn't stay out long, because *I* think it's nasty, I'm not a kid, and I do have the internet.

Paper beats rock. Rock beats scissors. Dremel beats expired metal credit card.

I went to the optometrist today and they dilated my pupils. So guess what the weather did for the first day in a month? BRIGHT. SHINY. SUN. Reflecting off the all the snow. Not to worry though, now that I'm home it's clouding up again and it's sure to be completely overcast by stargazing o'clock.

I feel like I need this on a t-shirt.

Looking for a new ebook reader for the iPhone, since the one I use (Marvin) was discontinued a while ago. What do people like?

And suddenly it's a bluescreen whenever I write to an SD card. Yay.

We got a half pound of sliced ham in its original vacuum-sealed packaging. After a week or two in the fridge unopened (still well before its date) it was starting to swell, so Roxanne moved it to the freezer. It continued to swell. It's now a pressurized little bomb waiting to go off.

Testing an old 3TB USB 3.0 HDD. Works, cool. Let's format with NTFS. May as well go with "full format" instead of "quick format", 'cause why not?

Five hours and 25% later I think I found out why not.

I heard two separate mentions of "Diggy Diggy Hole" recently and fell down a (thankfully shallow) rabbit hole figuring out what it is and how it started. But now that I've got it as an earworm I have a real itch to play an all-dwarf, all-underground D&D campaign.

Huh. I've had a package stuck in "In transit" limbo for over 10 days, so I posted an inquiry about it to the USPS web site. Not two hours later I got a call from the local post office to say they'll look into it. A+ for responsiveness.

No, Slashdot. If the ad blocker prevented the video from being loaded, it's working exactly as it should. EXACTLY. Assholes.

That's not enough degrees.

When you click a post to see replies, Bluesky doesn't also expand replies to replies, etc. You have to click through each reply individually to see the actual conversation. I understand why it works like this from a technical perspective, but I absolutely hate this model from a UI perspective.

Thinking about home projects which led to thinking about things being plumb which led to thinking about things being square which led to thinking about Plumbbob Squarepants which led to thinking about the part of Plumbbob that would dangle down which led to thinking about brain bleach.

Bluesky seems to have the misfeature of encouraging people to forward posts from other people without adding any commentary. I hate that. If I wanted to see what those other people have to say I'd have followed *them*, not *you*.

One thing I really want here is better visual separation of posts. With standalone posts, multi-post threads, replies, and reposts I just can't quickly pick out where one topic ends and the next begins.
