Public Librarian. Long covid. Husband, Dad, cook, baker, writer, occasional sketcher, often surrounded by pets.
Made rusks today. Last year we ran out of them quickly, so I doubled the recipe. I knew something was off when I made a vat of buttermilk-butter - soup. Wife then reminded me that last year we halved the recipe. Friends, we are lousy with South African health rusks. Great with a morning coffee!

For book club this month, I'm reading Jayber Crow. Re-reading, actually. It's as good as I remembered. #booksky #bookclub

I made the Sweet N Sour Chicken from “Make It Japanese” and it was delicious. I’ve been sifting through the recipes for the last week and finally made one. I’ll be making more.

Constantine: Dead in America is a thrilling horror-ride through America in search of Morpheus’ lost sand. Simon Spurrier has a lot to say about the current state of the U.S. I’ll have to re-read this one to make sure I got it all. #comicsky #graphicnovel

Crime Scene Investigation. #1 suspect denies being anywhere near the grisly scene - the shelf where the cat food container was pushed in a daring late-night crime. #cats

H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald was a great book club discusssion book. Those of us who love TH White got an unexpected treat, since he features a lot in the book. People loved her nature descriptions. We could have gone on talking about birds all night, but the library had to close. #booksky

Aristotle: A graphic biography is surprising me with how good it is. I thought I’d learn something, but I am deeply fascinated with this book. It is relevant to today! And grounds the philosophers in history. And a masterclass class in comic storytelling. Seriously good. #comicsky #graphicnovels

The midnight cookie elves struck again! I wake to find cookies in the kitchen - which means I have little choice but to have a cookie with my coffee! Right?

Listening to Written on the Dark by Guy Gavriel Kay, which is great so far… and it feels a bit like LeCarre cast an influence on this? Maybe that’s just cause the narrator records a lot of George Smiley audiobooks. Regardless, Keep on writing, @guygavrielkay.bsky.social! #boosky

I dip into The Weird on occasion for a guaranteed good story. I feel refreshed after. Our library copy wasn’t returned for over a year. Bought a new copy. Then the old copy came back. We have 2 now, both checked out. #booksky

Was 1995 30 years ago? Today the Ai gives the correct answer! Hooray! It’s fixed! But …., ai is still unsure whether 1985 was 40 years ago.
