Here is an example of a paper wasp with one wing folded longitudinally and the open. I prepared it for an online course about stinging insects, maybe it'll be useful for someone's insect taxonomy class.

Saw Murder by Death's show in Millersville last night. It was one of the best concerts I've ever been to, well worth the 2 hour drive. The venue was small, maybe 300 people across two levels, so it felt pretty intimate. My phone was almost dead so this blurry photo was the only one I got 😭

Brood XIV cicadas are getting ready to emerge in Central PA!

My former student Logan took this photo of a wild turkey crop full of cicada nymphs. What a great illustration of why cicada predators do so well during years they emerge.

The turkey was legally harvested during spring gobbler season.

An ideal society would ban and reglate guns, but we don't live in an ideal society. The fascists have and are itching to use them against minorities. We should take advantage of lax US gun laws and be ready to fight back when the time comes.

Had a pipe freeze yesterday. One section burst and one valve blew completely off. Fun times mopping up the mess. Thank god for sharkbites, it was an easy repair once I could get to it
An old valve blow out of it's housing after a pipe froze. A 1/2" copper pipe with a split where it froze and burst. A section of copper pipe against a bathroom wall. The copper pipe has a section of plastic pipe and two sharkbite adapters where the burst section was removed. A bathroom with the washer and dryer moved to access a birst copper pipe and mop up the wet water mess. A heater and dehumidifoer are running to help dry the room out.
