This result is (to my knowledge) the first new theoretical discrimination channel in 50 years, distinct from taste-based bias (favoring members of certain groups over others) and statistical discrimination (interpreting individual performance based on known group attributes).

I uncover a new-to-economics discrimination channel. High schools' possession of private information about their students creates an incentive for the college to form a relationship with one high school in which the college provides favorable admission treatment in exchange for extra information.

Attitudes towards the use of market design may improve with experience. USN physicians expressed hesitation towards the use of deferred acceptance (DA) in billet assignment, but those who participated in a DA experiment subsequently reported favorable attitudes towards continuing the use of DA.
