I have been given a chocolate moose. (Yes it did take me four hours to get that this is a pun. No I am not embarrassed.) The moose is called Beloning and I am writing a piece about belonging (for neurodivergent people in churches) so I think this is very apt.

Monserrat (after mountain railway and funicular and ramp to a very high viewpoint. Barcelona is v accessible! Not something I say about many cities)

It was fantastic to join @krysiawally.bsky.social & @renasha.bsky.social at #SocRel2025 to reflect on the Response Day conference they organised on disability, neurodivergence & religions. We can create spaces of solidarity, care & disability justice in academia. Congrats to them on modelling that.

In the Cotswolds for my first week off since January. Just need to finish a research funding proposal and go to a SocRel session virtually.* Otherwise just going to drink tea and visit things like this (the path was accessible to my scooter)

*Though I’m sorry to miss it in the venue this year!

My mum thinks I need a break this year, hence this birfdy present. She may be right. Thanks mum! 🥰

(Maybe the spouse & I should find a production of Death of A Salesman, the play we walked out of 20 years ago this summer. Shared complaints about the quality led to us getting together. Somehow.)

Staying in a hotel, and was glad to see I have the standard door to the Time Hotel. I feel much safer in the universe now

You know your dad understands you when - for no particular occasion - he sends you a history of late European paganism(s) - from pre-Christian and unchristianised cultures, through ethnography and folklore, to modern revivals and reinventions. (Thanks, Dad!)

Biscuit, the very orange cat, thinks no one can see him here so he can pounce on passing feet with impunity.

(He did manage some pouncing)

Chag Pesach Sameach :) It’s just the two of us, so I was in charge of the Seder plate. I did my best!

No cheating. Post the last photo of your pet. It is #Caturday after all. 😸

Yesterday was Sunshine Day (a festival my spouse created to celebrate the first day it gets light before 7am*, which they take very seriously). We went to see the non-existent sunrise & there are (re-plantable) flowers. Happy Sunshine Day☀️

Biscuit likes to stare up at me while I slowly go up the stairs on the stairlift. Sometimes he runs ahead so I can I ride right over him. Cats: mysterious creatures #Caturday

Fighting the cat for space on the bed while I drink my tea. He has allowed me the edge. Yesterday he destroyed a box of crackers I had unwisely left out on the kitchen counter. And this is why we call him the Toddler

I successfully got the train to London (it’s a rare triumph when I can take the tube independently), met a friend and saw Wicked again, and then it was properly snowing in the south east.* All the #TinyJoys

It was still Hanukkah till a few hours ago, which is probably the reason there are donuts in the kitchen. And also why they had to be eaten this quickly, of course
January 2, 2025 at 7:53 PM
And also because I tried to do one of those ‘end of the year reflections’ journaling templates and it had *so many* questions and my ADHD brain rebelled. Dates are socially constructed. Only cats are real

Happy Christmas and happy Hanukkah for tonight! To anyone who celebrates either, that is. To everyone else, have a lovely Wednesday. I gave the spouse socks from @thegooddotstore.bsky.social And a game emulator, but the socks were a big hit.

Lille is lovely too, and also I’m a bit (very) overstimulated. Today the spouse got me excited about a very high ferris wheel at the Christmas market, and then I had regrets. But the vin chaud is excellent. And look, so pretty!
