Yes! She's truly talented in a lot of fields. I think I cried for the All Too Well short film, as it gets really intense and far too close to home when it comes to heartbreak. There's a fight scene where the song fades out half way through, and the entire scene is one take. Really powerful.

Thanks for commenting! Yes, it's astonishing how big of a base she has. It really shows how much women crave someone who echoes their own feelings & stories. It's also impressive to see the age range of her fans. Most are millenials who grew up with her, but she's also reached younger folks like me.

I wasn't aware of Maxwell's involvement, but it will be interesting to watch this case as it continues to unfold. It's remarkable how her treatment has improved. It truly feels like our societal norms have been turned on their heads at this point. @cfuchstv.bsky.social #304F25

Billy, I love how you concluded this: "Staying open to suggestions feeds confidence, while arrogance sees suggestions as laughable." It's a good reminder that we are all continuing to grow as artists, and there is no ultimate "level" that we can reach. @cfuchstv.bsky.social #304F25

Great selection of sources! I know there was that news about Tilly, the AI "actress" a few months ago, but I haven't heard anything since. Do you foresee regulations like these preventing future characters from being created?

Thank you for sharing this story! I had never heard of Cheryl, but it does prove how much there is to learn about our industry. I've taken a class that highlighted the experiences of black women and lesbian women within film, but it didn't touch on black queer women @cfuchstv.bsky.social #304F25

I believe this is actually a reflection of what we desire from the people in our lives - that type of understanding, the character growth, the ability to apologize. What we watch and listen to, and whom we connect with are actually give-aways for the people who are just getting to know us...

Coming from the Swiftie community, I can understand how a parasocial relationship can feel real and precious. Many of us have developed a strong bond with TS for similar reasons -- her songs have emotional depth and address issues we relate to. @cfuchstv.bsky.social #304F25

From critiquing double standards to crystallizing our emotional trauma, Taylor Swift has centered women in her storytelling and filmmaking. In an era when over 90% of film directors are men (Sun, 2024), it is a breath of fresh air to see another perspective – and be able to relate to it.

The story goes even deeper by exploring how women have been dismissed and called “crazy” for having emotions and reacting to the trauma they’ve been put through. Taylor uses the imagery of Ophelia as a metaphor for herself and every woman whose pain has been “rewritten as instability” (Coulson 2025)

Finally, we’ll turn to Taylor’s most recent project: “The Fate of Ophelia.” In the BTS of the music video, she explains how this film highlights women’s roles throughout history. She achieves this visually by portraying herself as a painting, a 1930s dancer, a theatrical actress, and a pop star.

Taylor worked with Sadie to be true to her character and tell the heartbreak from the woman’s perspective. Sadie demonstrates how much a woman can do to keep a relationship going – visiting with his friends, washing dishes – only to have him ignore her needs and feelings when they matter most.

Taylor’s first short film, All Too Well, features themes of grooming, gaslighting, and the acute pain of feeling invisible within your relationship. Taylor describes it as a story of “girlhood calcifying into this bruised adulthood,” which is a good representation of Sadie Sink’s character, “Her.”

Mothers, on the other hand, are expected to parent their children 24/7 and don’t receive the same recognition as fathers. Taylor goes even farther by having the crowd surrounding him be primarily women who are awed by how “present” he his, suggesting that the bar for men is very low at this point.

We can track her evolution as a director, starting with “The Man,” which highlights the double standards women face in society. In a BTS interview, Taylor points out how men receive “instant approval,” as demonstrated in the park scene when a dad is showered with praise for simply showing up.

Taylor describes how she wanted to capture how Sadie's character "does not feel seen within this relationship," and how it's the story of "girlhood calcifying into this bruised adulthood." She let Sadie make a lot of choices as an actor, including improving a scene @cfuchstv.bsky.social #304F25
