Monster, from around the same time period, is quite similar on the atrocity side of things. Not so much on the levity side...

The fact that it was reported as fact is annoying, but it's not exactly nonsense. None of the possible explanations (cosmic ray, cartridge tilt/slap, hardware faults) seem super likely given the known facts of the case, so we can't rule it out.

The year is 2029. My parents are watching an AI generated Hallmark Christmas movie. Somehow, it's even worse than a real Hallmark movie. My parents continue watching it anyway.

Cosmic bit flips are common? Don't tell mario speedrunners, you might start a goldrush

Ignore me if I'm being an idiot and talking about things I don't understand, but David mentions elsewhere that switch 1 games are built without, implying he intended to use some known ROP exploit in a switch 1 game.

It's very cool, but I beg you to make it into a capybara

When you say polyhedral transforms, do you mean you are transforming a polyhedron, or are you performing some transformation related to a polyhedron, like elements of a symmetry group?

You can do them without trig! Every unit quaternion corresponds to a rotation, so you can parametrise a path through quaternion space and normalise. (Now that I say it out loud, it's not that simple 😅)
I think @endesga.bsky.social had some animations of this on twitter a while back.

Haha! Well then, your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to implement rotation using quaternions.

How'd you go about doing the rotation without trig?

Learned compute shaders for this. GPU implementation of the Rule 22 elementary cellular automaton.

I got this out a day late but really wanted to finish it. C with OpenGL.
