To start off, I've uploaded a new public-domain ebook: The Dark Frigate by Charles Hawes. This acclaimed adventure story about piracy and sail won the Newbery Medal, the highest honor for children's fiction.

I think this was the first grown-up story I read that really scared me. I can still summon the tension I felt while reading it many years ago. .

The Whole Town's Sleeping, by Ray Bradbury. It can be found in the outstanding short story collection Bradbury Stories.

@techconnectify.bsky.social I bought this boom box today. The cassette buttons are backwards. “Play” points to the left. The >> button rewinds, and the << button fast-forwards. I had to double-check my VCR to make sure I hadn’t misremembered the directions.
