Samus is meant to be effortlessly cool, powerful, willing to come to people's aid because it's the right thing to do.
People rely on her and feel safe around her because she's actually quite caring.
Beneath it all are bubbles of trauma from her childhood & sometimes she needs to rely on others.

The Boba Fett style Bounty Hunter was also never the case, even in English depiction. She can be a Bounty Hunter and not be morally corrupt.

I think it's a case of Boba Fett being the most well known space Bounty Hunter in media and so Samus got associated with him, despite being nothing alike.

I'd be interested to actually hear what the original Japanese was, because this sounds like a translator adding their own flourishes, inserting words they think will get the point across but actually making things more confusing.

Samus does have a motherly-side, but it's not her everything.
