As I sit in the garage cutting out the last minute laser gifts that need to be finished in two days, I have been scouring the news. Texas Paul said it best yesterday, we are watching an old man die before our eyes. I would like to add that our national government is also dying.

I caught a headline that the Supreme Court is letting our Texas illegal voting map stand. It dawned on me that we were warned by Ike of the Military-Industrial Complex 70 years ago. It took 70 years (a generation) but that is our new form of government that ignores our constitution and laws.

The art blog that I chat with artists from around the world has been invaded by a MAGA nut. He declared that only government has freedom of speech, and we are not not a democracy. OMG! Us Libs on the site let him have it. He is still posting. I will not go back on that site until he is blocked.

Yesterday, my body has returned to normal. I found myself in my kitchen cleaning the fronts of cabinets and removing cushion squares from the floor. At the same time, I wash, dried, folded, and put away my laundry. The sky is the limit from here on out.

One month after finishing chemo, and I have more energy again..thank you red blood cells. My hair and eyebrows are growing back.

Discovered that knitting is helping to bring back the feelings in my fingers.

Can no longer stand to watch the news and hear that horrible squeaky voice of TACO.

Got great news yesterday. I am pancreatic cancer free according to the CT Scans I had last Thursday. Even the shadow is gone. I have only three more chemo treatments. I will be put on a recheck schedule with periodic CT Scans. It was caught early before tumors formed. Just cancer cells.

Having a chemo treatment and then getting viral pneumonia three days later was one for the books. Overnight hospital stay and arguing with the cafe people about what I could eat, left me drained. But a week later, I am almost feeling human again. One more free week, then chemo again.

Best of all my Cricut Maker 4 is working so well. I am in the middle of building a small victorian dollhouse in 1:48 scale. Having so much fun.

DId not watch F47. Watched a cute spy movie on Netflix, 4 episodes of the Twilight Zone which we are now living, and then then I Love Lucy! 3)

Had to call a neighbor to hold the door up to get a car out. Electricity back on at 4:30 pm. It went back out a 9 pm for another hour. But the best news arrived this morning that my WEP check from Social Security is safely in my checking account. Hope today is better. 2)

Yesterday, we started with 80 mph winds knocking out electricity at 5:45 am. Took showers in dark bathrooms to get ready for my infusion at UTSW. I ate two cupcakes for breakfast and a PBJ sandwich before we left. The emergency release on the garage door was not working right. 1)

Two weeks ago, I had my 3 month CT Scan, and they found a shadow. My tumor marker read .7 above normal. Today, I had my first round of chemo with two different drugs. Best part, I did not have a port to deal with for 58 hours. I was in and out in three hours, and we stopped for dinner.

Thank you Rachel for being on five nights a week right now. I have been following you since Air America Radio. Your skills in zeroing in on the issues is a gift! Born and raised in Chicago, moved to Texas, and married to a wonderful formal Hispanic teacher.

Bridge on the River Kwai....oh my! Sabotage, marching, whistling, and suffering. I will just lock myself inside my house for the next four years.

Quarter scale miniature bakery measuring 2 3/4" square. The bread, pastries, and cakes were created from miniature kits. The room, walls, flooring, tables, and display case were created and cut out on my Cricut Maker 3.

Just finished making a quarter scale bakery! Just in time for the Holidays. It is a 2 3/4 inch square room with floor and two walls. I designed the walls, floor, and display case. I used two professional kits for the bakery goods that I bought nine months ago.

Finished my latest miniature. It is based on a photo of an Italian courtyard. My husband said it reminded him of the last James Bond film. So, he gave me the miniature car to place in the scene complete with bullet holes!

It took me all day to decorate my new 4' Christmas tree. As I started going through my decorations, I realized the glass beads that I put on the top of the Christmas tree are over 100 years old. A few of my ornaments I bought from Marshall Field in Chicago in 1967. Wonderful memories!

I have made progress with the miniature scene. The basic building shapes are finished, and the pavement is debossed ready for applying colors. Here is the scene through the courtyard arch. I am building this from the inside out and will make the outside at the end.

I was rereading an original post. My UTSW Surgeon saved my pancreas, so I did not become a diabetic. Talk about a miracle.
November 18, 2024 at 6:03 PM
Today is an appointment with a UTSW Ophthalmologist. As a result of chemo, I am now having trouble seeing in the dark. It is so bad, I bought a headlight when I need to see into things like drawers and closets.

Forget night driving. Everything is a dark blob.

Turns out the chemo was the easy part....then I had major surgery called Whipple Surgery. I am finally fully recovered, and again have time to get social again!

Starting a new miniature. The tiny house I made is sitting next to the one in the inspiration photo. Took 3 tries to get it right!

My chemotherapy is over and my husband of 30 years was my rock. He sat with me in every treatment. March is rebuild my body as my appetite should get better. Surgery in April which will make me a 3C Diabetic, but cured from two tiny little tumors on my pancreas. Lots of joy in our family!

@rrathbun.bsky.social I am your first follower! I love your pottery! I specialize in miniature scenes in 1:48 or 1:24 scale. I even made a 3D lampshade from mat board and watercolor paper. I am finishing up chemo treatments, will have a break, and then will have major surgery.
