I build AWS cloud applications and lead engineering teams in the UK.
My understanding is

- The model today is roughly equivalent
- Cost to train it was a fraction of the cost for OpenAI
- Required very few NVIDIA H100 chips (hence stock price tanking)
- The model is different bc it “learns” from customer use. So will continually get better even after training

I’ve been out of the PHP Wordpress game for years, so genuine question:

Would what you saw be fundamentally different if it were on Wordpress.com/WP Engine/other hosted WP service?

Same plugin update process?

And being more productive is all that matters.

Thanks!

Having used neither, but considering switching from current Webstorm+CoPilot setup, what do you think are the big improvements Windsurf has over Cursor?

Yup. It’s the modern day “nobody gets fired for buying IBM” 😔

I die a little every time I see on an svg icon library website a button to “download as JSX”.

As in “would you like a silly version of this that’s not standards based?”

Don’t get me wrong, Node and AWS also hideously complex. You just forget what you’ve gotten used to, and coming back after a break makes you realise the silliness of the current situation

Yeah it’s pretty bleak.

I took a break from front end for about 4yrs and just returned to it recently. W.T.F.

I feel like I need to make an inflight safety announcement:

“To size your new services, please identify your nearest go live door. You may need to make services bigger or smaller depending on the business you are in”

Make 👏 your 👏 services 👏the 👏 appropriate 👏 size 👏

So now it’s go live time they’ve realised they have to do service entry, perf test, security test, run books, monitoring, alerts, on-call config, handover etc FOURTEEN times.

The release date has been pushed back, CEO is pissed and nobody can articulate why they made the microservices so small 🤦‍♂️

6 of them are identical: subscribe to a single Kafka topic, map message and forward on to external API. But each is a fully independent service, repo, deployment etc.

Now it’s bit them in the ass: They forgot they work for an Enterprise co
