Cambridge Coffee and Crime

Kiwi author holed up in the Scottish Highlands, where the weather's interesting, but the plots are twisty. Surviving on whisky, woolly socks, and a steady diet of murder. Debut novel The Orchid Mystery blooming with Coffeetown Press late 2025.
🎙️ Erudite, sardonic, and utterly brilliant — Mark Steele live for Mark Steele’s in Town.
✨ With the wonderful Caroline Biggs of The Spinning House.
What a night!

People often ask why I set my mystery in Cambridge, and in 1977. Honestly, modern forensics can kill the suspense. Cambridge in ’77 has the perfect atmosphere for a classic, character-driven whodunit.
