"So many girls, so little time"- quote from the Epstein birthday book. But a picture from the book is so much more telling--about rags to riches, from torn jeans to sex slaves--the intersection of class and gender (and, implicitly race).

Most so-called pronatalist policies in the U.S. seriously underestimate the costs and risks of raising children in today’s economic environment. They also ignore child poverty.

Home care workers are now getting an official kick in the butt-they will no longer be guaranteed minimum wage or overtime protections. Evelyn Coke won a 2007 court case that laid a legal foundation for such guarantees. Keep her face in mind and push back.

The culling of human employees in favor of artificial intelligence is gathering pace. Microsoft is planning to fire thousands of workers, particularly in sales, as part of the company’s latest move to terminate employees amid heavy spending on AI.

A surprising number of posters at No King's marches emphasized care, kindness, empathy. I'm putting together a "show" on this theme. Please message me if you have one to share.

Many great posters at the local No King's March in Greenfield, MA. This simple message held up by one of my neighbors, a retired school teacher and principal, really grabbed me.

Why attack Harvard?
Because, as George Orwell explained in his prescient vision of an authoritarian future, any search for truth threatens the powers that be.

Check out Shepard Fairey's Meme Generator. His portrait captures Essence of Trump. You can lay in your favorite slogan on the image. One could even use it to print out stickers...

Hello U.S.! Want parents? Give them time to do their job. New social cost-benefit analysis shows that paid family leave generates returns at least 7 times greater than its costs.

Terrific Paul Krugman post on what a decent way to reduce fraud and raise tax revenue would look like.

The title misleads--nothing on spending priorities (yet).

Tariffs for breakfast!

The new tariff regime includes what is effectively a sales tax of 10% on coffee and bananas. As though we should grow more of our own?
