I had to do this once because for some reason the headset I was using didn’t have a standardized headset. One of the connections to the phono jack was wired wrong from the factory so using the splitter allowed me to “correct” the mistake

I have a story about parking in a wide open lot when I worked at 7-11. Namely this one gas delivery driver refused to deliver if there was ANYONE in the lot. Including customers and myself.
