As someone who wanted to be a glossy magazine writer, watched that industry implode, and pivoted to something else, I have immense respect for everyone who said "fuck it, I'm still doing this, fuck you." Luke was right, Kaleb should've had $5/word and an expense account.

He was also--along with David Roth and Hunter S Thompson--the best obit writer I've ever read. Luke O'Neil did a wonderful tribute to him in Welcome to Hellworld, in the absence of Kaleb being able to write his own obituary.
